Craig Ramsey
Secondary Teacher (Humanities) & Wellbeing Coordinator
Craig Ramsey is originally from the Chicago area in the United States. He received his Masters in Teaching from the University of South Carolina in 2003 and subsequently taught Humanities in a public, high-performing Middle School in Columbia, South Carolina. In 2009, he had the opportunity to relocate to Beijing, China where he began his career in international teaching. As a believer in lifelong education and learning, Craig has published several academic papers on international education, and in 2021, he received a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He recently moved to Singapore from Shanghai, China with his wife and two children and is very much looking forward to continuing his journey of professional growth here at Middleton.
Craig’s Humanities classes are driven by an inquiry approach to learning where the exploration of the past explicitly connects to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the present. Similarly, he emphasizes the role that one’s perspective plays in determining historical rights and wrongs which allows students to develop a more sophisticated view of the past and the current world around them. Most importantly, Craig believes students must feel they are part of a warm, respectful, and supportive classroom environment, where everyone has a voice and feels free to take risks and “fail forward.”
Outside of Middleton, Craig’s interests and hobbies include running, cycling, travel, and cooking for his family.
