Steve Gallego

Principal

Steve is a future-focused and values-driven educator with 20 years experience in international education. Having initially qualified as an educator in the UK, Steve discovered his passion for leadership and fulfilled roles of Head of Primary, Head of Secondary, and Founding Principal in several schools across Spain, before transitioning to international school education in SE Asia. His most specific areas of expertise are in behaviour/engagement, pastoral care, inclusion, and professional development of staff. He is a life-long learner who holds a Master of Education (Leadership) from Massey University in New Zealand and is currently engaging in a Doctorate of Education with research into the development of middle leaders.

Steve’s belief is that effective learning starts with warm and high trust relationships. He spends lots of time getting to know students and staff, and his favourite endeavour is to rove the school and chat to students about their learning journeys. His approach is one of empowerment and encourages action and agency among students, staff, and parents alike. At the weekend Steve can be found out on the football pitch coaching his football teams, which enables him to maintain his strong passion for sports while also developing key personal skills, and most particularly leadership skills, in his players.
